The global plastics & rubber & Paper and Articles trade (export + import) has reduced to USD 2158.78 billion in 2019 decrease of 5.0% compared to 2018 which was USD 2272.27 billion. The plastics & rubber & Paper and Articles trade represented 5.71% of the total global trade.

Dubai plastics & rubber & Paper and Articles trade (export + import) have raised to USD 9.24 billion in 2019, an increase of 0.06% compared to USD 9.23 billion in 2018. Dubai plastics & rubber & Paper and Articles trade represented 0.09% of the total global trade.

Dubai plastics & rubber & Paper and Articles exports were AED 8.13  billion in 2019 which accounts for 5.3% of Dubai export. 

The top exported products were: Ethylene polymers; in primary forms, polyethylene having a specific gravity (HS Code: 390120), Printed matter (HS Code: 491199) and Propylene, other olefin polymers (HS Code: 390210).

The top export destinations were:  Sultanate oF Oman, India, China, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.                                            

Dubai plastics & rubber & Paper and Articles imports were AED 25.77 billion in 2019 which accounted for 3.2% of the total Dubai imports.

The top import origins were: China, USA, India, Saudi Arabia and Germany.

It’s taking into account the latest available global trade development forecasts published by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), which expect the value of global trade to finish the year 2020 at about 9% below the level of 2019 due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, they predict merchandise trade to grow at a rate of around 7% in 2021. From 2022 on, the global average growth rate is forecasted to be at around 3-4%.
