Sector Overview - MISCELLANEOUS MANUFACTURED

The global miscellaneous manufactured articles trade (export + import) has decreased to USD 981.24 billion in 2020, a decrease of 0.4% compared to USD 1039.59 billion in 2019. The miscellaneous manufactured articles trade represented 5.61% of total global trade.

Dubai's miscellaneous manufactured articles trade (export + import) has decreased to USD 4.66 billion in 2020, a decrease of 18.07% compared to USD 5.69 billion in 2019. Dubai's miscellaneous manufactured articles trade represented 0.47% of the total global miscellaneous manufactured articles trade.

Dubai miscellaneous manufactured articles exports were AED 1.1 billion in 2020 which accounts for 0.66% of Dubai export.  

The top exported products were: Buildings; prefabricated, not of wood (HS Code: 940690), Skis; for snow (HS Code: 950611) and Furniture; wooden, other than for office, kitchen or bedroom use (HS Code: 940360).

The top export destinations were:  USA, Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, Germany, UK and India.

Dubai miscellaneous manufactured articles imports were AED 15.99 billion in 2020 which accounted for 2.33% of the total Dubai imports.  

The top import products were: Wrist-watches; whether or not incorporating a stop-watch facility, with automatic winding (HS Code: 910221), Wrist-watches; electrically operated, with or without a stop-watch, with a case of precious metal (HS Code: 910111) and Wrist-watches; electrically operated, with or without a stop-watch (HS Code: 910211).

The top import origins were:  China, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and USA.

Dubai miscellaneous manufactured articles re-exports were AED 7.14 billion in 2020 which accounted for 2.17% of the total Dubai re-export.

The top re-export products: Wrist-watches; electrically operated, with or without a stop-watch, with case of precious metal (HS Code: 910111), Games; video game consoles and machines, other than those of subheading 9504.30 (HS Code: 950450) and Paintings, drawings and pastels; executed entirely by hand, other than drawings of heading no. 4906 (HS Code: 970110).

The top re-export destinations were: Saudi Arabia, USA, Switzerland, Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait and Hong Kong.

It’s taking into account the latest available global trade development forecasts published by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), which expect the value of global trade to finish the year 2020 at about 9% below the level of 2020 due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, they predict merchandise trade to grow at a rate of around 7% in 2021. From 2022 on, the global average growth rate is forecasted to be at around 3-4%.
