China imports 553,000 mt recycled steel in 2021 after two-year gap

China imported 553,053 mt of recycled steel in 2021, after permitting inflows of the raw material following a two-year hiatus, latest customs figures showed. Volumes originating from Japan contributed 70.4% of the imports at 389,276 mt, followed by South Korea at 95,915 mt. The inflows surged the most during the second quarter of the year, as many buyers were unsure about new import regulations in the first quarter. Volumes started tapering late-May, as the country sought to cool high steel prices, with recycled steel at multi-year highs in the overseas market.

Export-led growth only way to set country on right path: minister

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that sustainable export-led growth was the only way to put the country in the right direction. Addressing members of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) at its head office in Faisalabad on Thursday, he said the government was making all-out efforts to increase the country’s exports. “Our real target is to achieve sustainable growth in exports, as it is the only recipe to cope with the economic miseries of Pakistan,” he said.

DP World Starts Construction of a $1.1 Billion Port in Senegal

Dubai-based logistics giant DP World has embarked on the construction of the $1.1 billion Ndayane deepwater port in Senegal, the largest port investment the firm has ever made in Africa. Trade turnover between Ukraine and Armenia increases by 24%

Commodity turnover between Ukraine and Armenia in 2021 amounted to $159.9 million and increased by 24%, reported. Charge d'Affaires in the Republic of Armenia Denis Avtonomov said that the Ukrainian export to Armenia amounted to $135.46 million and increased by 19.47%. Armenian imports to Ukraine totaled $13.48 million, an increase of 35.29%.
