Visa Requirements

Passport:
Passport required.

Passport Exemptions:
Nationals of United Arab Emirates with a temporary passport arriving at Erbil (EBL) and Sulaymaniyah (ISU).
Nationals of United Arab Emirates with a temporary passport arriving at Bagdad (BGW).

Document Validity:
Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the period of intended stay.
Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid for a minimum of 3 months beyond the period of intended stay when arriving at Basra (BSR).
Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid on arrival when arriving at Erbil (EBL) or Sulaymaniyah (ISU).

Admission and Transit Restrictions:
Passengers with a handwritten passport are not allowed to enter.

Visa:
Visa required.

Visa Exemptions:
Passengers with a signed and stamped letter issued by the Ministry of Interior of Iraq if arriving at Baghdad (BGW), Basra (BSR) or Najaf (NJF).
Passengers with a visa issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government if arriving at Erbil (EBL) and Sulaymaniyah (ISU). This must be considered as a visa even if E-VISA is written on it.
Passengers arriving at Baghdad (BGW), Basra (BSR), Erbil (EBL), Najaf (NJF) or Sulaymaniyah (ISU) with a birth certificate issued by Iraq. The name on the birth certificate must be the same as stated on the passport or other document accepted for entry.
Passengers arriving at Baghdad (BGW), Basra (BSR) or Najaf (NJF) with a Civil ID, an ID Certificate or a national ID card issued by Iraq. The name on the Iraqi document must be the same as stated on the passport or other document accepted for entry.
Passengers arriving at Baghdad (BGW), Basra (BSR) or Najaf (NJF) with an expired passport issued by Iraq.

Visa Issuance:
Nationals of the United Arab Emirates traveling for religious purpose can obtain a visa on arrival at Najaf (NJF).
Nationals of the United Arab Emirates can obtain a visa on arrival at Basra (BSR).
Nationals of United Arab Emirates can obtain a visa on arrival at Erbil (EBL) and Sulaymaniyah (ISU) for a maximum stay of 30 days. They can apply to extend their stay.
Passengers younger than 18 years can obtain a visa on arrival at Baghdad (BGW) or Basra (BSR) airports. They must travel with their parents and at least one of the parents must hold an Iraqi passport.
Foreign minors younger than 18 years of Iraqi parents can obtain a visa on arrival. They must have the passport, the Civil ID, the ID Certificate or the national ID card of the parent.

Additional Information:

Passengers with a visa issued in paper format are not allowed to enter Najaf (NJF).

Letters signed and stamped issued by the Ministry of Interior of Iraq to passengers arriving at Baghdad (BGW), Basra (BSR) or Najaf (NJF) must be forwarded to the airline's station manager in order to receive an OK TO BOARD from the immigration.
Letters signed and stamped issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government to passengers arriving at Erbil (EBL) and Sulaymaniyah (ISU) must be forwarded to the airline's station manager in order to receive an OK TO BOARD from the immigration.
Single entry visas must be used within 60 days from the day of issuance. Multiple entry visas must be used within 90 days from the day of issuance.

Warning:
Holders of passports containing an Israeli stamp or visa will be refused entry in Iraq. This restriction does not apply at Erbil (EBL).
Passports and/or passport replacing documents of all visitors traveling to Baghdad (BGW) or Basra (BSR) must contain at least 2 unused visa pages for entry and exit visas. This does not include the page reserved for "Observations" or "Amendments and Endorsements".
Passports and/or passport replacing documents of all visitors traveling to Najaf (NJF) must contain at least 3 unused visa pages for entry and exit visas. This does not include the page reserved for "Observations" or "Amendments and Endorsements".
Number of passengers traveling in a group and entering Iraq must be the same as the number of passengers departing Iraq. If any passenger is missing when departing Iraq, they will not be allowed to depart until the group is complete unless an official document is submitted from the group leader to the immigration officer in order to clear the exit stamp on the group visa. Information: This does not apply to passengers with a Pilgrim Group visa traveling to Erbil (EBL). Pilgrim Group visa are not sufficient to enter (EBL).
Passengers traveling to Baghdad (BGW) with a group visa must:
- have a visa issued before 13 February 2019, and
- have an original visa, and
- be met by their sponsor upon arrival in Baghdad (BGW).
